Aussie Sailors Triumphant at Special Olympics World Summer Games!

The Special Olympics World Summer Games LA2015 will be remembered as the largest sporting event in the world this year. Our nine Aussie Sailors in Green and Gold represented Australia with pride, skill and sportsmanship returning home with 4 Gold Medals and 5 Silver Medals.

The Special Olympics World Summer Games LA2015 will be remembered as the largest sporting event in the world this year. It showcased 7,000 athletes with an intellectual disability from 177 countries who competed across 26 sports. The Sailing Venue was Belmont Pier, Long Beach, California.
 
Our nine Aussie Sailors in Green and Gold represented Australia with pride, skill and sportsmanship returning home with 4 Gold Medals and 5 Silver Medals.
 
The Community Sports House can be very proud to have hosted the Australian Sailing Team from its World Class Sail Training Venue here on Lake Orr.  Some of the Team have been training here for almost 10 years with the Head Coach and Queensland Sailors comprising over 50% of the National Team.
 
Gold Coast Sailing Club continues to deliver weekly sports training, training camps, and regular competition for people with a disability with pathways to Regional, State, National, International, and World events through Special Olympics, Hansa, Sailability and Yachting Australia.
