As well as seeking new project partners, we spent months touring boat sheds around Queensland and talking to coordinators of water sport programs to come up with a practical and distinctive design for the new facility.

Through this process we identified a significant need for broader sporting infrastructure on the Gold Coast, especially places where clubs could administer and coordinate their facilities. At the time, most clubs were operating from home offices or in temporary office spaces at sports fields.
